Abstract

This study investigates the residential environment and emotional changes in households with excessive accumulation following the implementation of an organizational and storage service. Fifty households in Seoul participated voluntarily. Data were collected through surveys, interviews, and field observations before and after the service. The results revealed that households with excessive accumulation often had cluttered, unhygienic spaces causing significant psychological stress. The organizational service improved cleanliness and functionality, leading to enhanced psychological stability and reduced stress and anxiety. Although initial satisfaction with the service was high, it declined over time, indicating the need for ongoing support and education to maintain benefits. Additionally, a well-organized space increased efficiency in daily tasks and overall quality of life. In conclusion, organizational and storage services positively impact the residential environments and emotional well-being of households with excessive accumulation. These services should be expanded and integrated into housing welfare policies for sustained support. Further research should focus on the long-term effects and consider various influencing factors to generalize the findings more broadly.
