User Participated Planning of Small Community House for the Returning Population to Forming Village

Abstract

As a recent social change, the issue of the Urban-to-rural Migrant is being highlighted. Accordingly interest in successful settlement of residents returning to farming and rural villages is naturally increasing. Behind the growing number of people returning to farming, however, there have been many people who could not maintain their lives there because of there is problems. In order to successfully enter to farming villages, there is an urgent need to improve and appropriate housing to support their settlement. The purpose of this study is to identify the planning characteristics of the small community house for the people returning to farming and rural area which was considered as a useful housing alternated. This study used a small group workshop method and user participated planning. The study consisted of baby boomers who are planning to farming, young people and children who already move to rural area. As a result of this study, participants were interested in both social exchange and privacy based on the environmental characteristics of farming villages and wanted the minimum number of their neighbors. In addition, they emphasize characteristic promoting health and social exchanges. Through this research value of social community house with shared space as mean to solve the isolation and loneliness problems of living in new village.
