Abstract

As the supply of share houses expands as an alternative housing option for young people, it is necessary to identify individual differences in preferences for the spatial composition and sharing arrangements of share houses. Accordingly, this study aimed to understand preferences for sharing arrangements in share house spaces among university students, representing the youth in areas where the supply of share houses is insufficient. A total of 141 valid responses were collected through an online survey targeting university students residing in Jeonbuk Province. The analysis revealed that most respondents preferred private use of bedrooms. For shower rooms and toilets, preferences were evenly divided between private use and shared use with residents on the same floor. Among community spaces, high-usage convenience spaces such as shared kitchens and dining areas, as well as quiet spaces like meeting rooms and study zones, were preferred to be used separately by each floor. The results of this study can serve as foundational data for developing supply plans for youth share houses suitable for specific regions.
