Abstract

The purpose of this study was to suggest a direction to raise the community consciousness how it was related with their activities, through the survey about the perception and satisfaction of residents on the use of common space and living rules in the community housing of the middle class owner households. The research tool was the instrumental questionnaire which was distributed online to residents through the representatives of 7 community houses. 33 copies were collected, and the data were analysed by frequency, mean, Mann-Whitney test, and Kruskal-Wallis test of nonparametric statistics using SPSS program. The results were as follows. (1) The degree of participation of residents in the design meeting showed high linkage with the use of common space, which was used for resident meetings and various inner programs. (2) Residents recognized that community activities were important in raising their community consciousness. (3) The more people thought that the living rules were observed, the higher the satisfaction of the residents on the living rules, and higher also the importance of the living rules on community consciousness and community activities. (4) One of the community consciousness of residents, linked with the satisfaction of living rules, the emotional bonds with neighbors showed the strongest linkage of all.
