Abstract

This study examines the livability of Yongin Yeongdeok Happy Housing, focusing on the satisfaction and dissatisfaction of youth, newlywed, and elderly households. Through in-depth interviews, key factors influencing residents’ experiences were identified. While the winter heating performance was generally satisfactory, residents expressed dissatisfaction with inadequate summer cooling, hallway noise, and poor ventilation. Housing design challenges, including small unit sizes and inefficient furniture layouts, were particularly problematic for elderly residents, who struggled with space utilization. Additionally, concerns were raised about the lack of accessible and well-maintained communal facilities, limited parking, and insufficient public transportation. Based on these findings, this study proposes several improvements to enhance the livability of modular housing. Key recommendations include improving cooling efficiency, mitigating noise and ventilation issues, optimizing space utilization through better design, and enhancing the accessibility and management of communal facilities. These recommendations aim to ensure the long-term sustainability of modular housing by addressing the diverse needs of its residents.
