Abstract

A modular empirical complex consisting of 30 households has been supplied in Dec. 2017 in Gayang-dong through the national research and development. The economic feasibility, constructability, and technicality were demonstrated and verified through the empirical project, and foundation, by which measures of further improvements in the future could be made, were provided. The modular method can shorten the project duration as well as reducing construction costs. It can also prevent noise and dust making in advance. However, few studies have been empirically conducted on the advantages of modular apartments and duration shortening. Thus, it is necessary to have objective data about the effects of duration shortening of modular apartments through verification. To do this, this study aims to analyze the construction period and main processes, targeting the Gayang Demonstration Complex of the modular apartment to prove the effect of duration shortening, derive a problem while using the modular method, and present a solution to overcome the solution. Furthermore, this study aims to accumulate objective data about duration shortening by the modular method and provide a measure to shorten a project duration by deriving required technologies to shorten duration in the future through the comparison between durations in the demonstration complex and existing apartment.
