A Study on Demand of Housing Living Services for the Disabled

Abstract

Not only aspects of space planing but also housing living service delivery based on housing that support the solutions to the difficulties in daily life at home is necessary for the disabled's independent living in community. However, previous studies on housing living services that are provided to the disabled household connected to community is insufficient. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to find out demand of housing living service according to the characteristics of the disabled. This study conducted a survey for needs of housing living services with 95 people with disabilities by using one-on-one interview and analyzed demand of housing living services based on personal characteristics, housing characteristics and disability characteristics. The major result were as follows: 1) Demand for housing living services such as Household management, Convenience remodeling, Moving agency, House seeking service was high. 2) The demand for house chores service such as Storage arrangement, cleaning and laundry was also high. 3) Among the disability characteristics of the disabled, the demand differed depending on the type of disability and the degree of disability. The results of this research can be used as basic data for the development of housing living services considering various situations for the disabled.
