Abstract

A Ger is a traditional housing style representing Mongolia and was developed to be easy to move and assembled by nomads who had to go through harsh seasons. The modern housing style was introduced in a completely different form from the traditional Mongolian ger, However, the unique Mongolian housing culture is reflected in the spatial characteristics and space utilization behavior. Therefore, this study analyzed to analyze the characteristics of traditional housing culture in Mongolia's modern houses through spatial characteristics and resident usage behavior. As a result of the study, spatial characteristics were similar to those of traditional Ger in the order of modern Ger, apartment houses, and detached houses, and parts in common with traditional Ger were identified by type. Next, the characteristic of traditional residential culture shown in the behavior of modern residential users is that a large living area is devoted to various lifestyles and spending a long time. Next, the importance of the altar in the living space and the connection between the living room and the kitchen according to the unique food culture are mentioned.
