Management Characteristics of Nursing Home in the Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC)

Abstract

After the long-term care insurance policy is implemented, a nursing home in continuing care retirement community (CCRC), is mostly not adequate for quality level of nursing care service, manpower placement, financing and efficient support management system. Therefore, we need to investigate the status of nursing home, and find the way to improve it. The purpose of this study is to investigate the conditions of nursing home and to define its management characteristics. Using the investigating tool, we conducted a survey on workers in nursing home in January and February 2019. The findings from this are as follow: In large, Korea’s nursing home showed relatively good management on human resources and resident’s care, whereas showed relatively bad management on community resources utilization, financial and environment · facility. Residents living in nursing homes within the CCRC may use common spaces inside and outside of welfare house for the aged in the same complex. In addition, if the health status of the couple is different among the residents living in the CCRC, the healthy ones of the couples live in the welfare house for the aged, and the less healthy ones live in the nursing homes in the same complex. This study will be used as a fundamental data in planning a nursing home of CCRC.
