Abstract

Now in our society, with the change in population structure, the housing demand and supply for single or two-member households is increasing moving away from the existing multi-member household-oriented housing demand and supply. But Haengbok public rental houses in downtowns were not properly equipped with convenience facilities and public spaces due to a shortage of available land areas, the small area for exclusive use and the high household density compared to the same-scale apartment houses, and the limitations in size. Since then, there has been a rise in the need to make small-scale Haengbok public rental house residents enjoy activities outside when such activities could not be satisfied inside the complex. Therefore, to improve efficiency and convenience of residents, this study aims to suggest considerations when supplying and planning for physical infrastructure by examining and analyzing the present state of physical infrastructure inside and outside small-scale Haengbok public rental houses. It is considered that this study will serve as basic data when suggesting physical infrastructure regulations and guidelines for small-scale Haengbok public rental houses, and if public institution-led physical infrastructure regulations and guidelines for small-scale Haengbok public rental houses are devised in the future, it will be helpful in developing further regulations and guidelines for small-scale apartment houses that are similar to Haengbok public rental houses too.
