Analysis of Interior Trend in One-room and Officetel based on ‘Today’s House’ Application for Single Occupants

Abstract

This study aims to search out the interior trends in one-rooms and officetels based on a home-related application called ‘Today’s House’ in South Korea. 160 interior cases of one-rooms and officetels from this application were selected, and writing contents or interior photographs of occupants were analyzed from August 25, 2020, to September 02, 2020. The program ‘Excel’ was used for the analysis. The results of this study are as follows. It was discovered that cozy and natural interiors were the most preferred atmosphere and interior style. In interior features, occupants tend to choose white as the main color for nearly every aspect, whereas stool and desk were located in more than half of the subjects analyzed. Shelf and wardrobe also appeared in about every subject inspected. In the decoration aspects, painting and postcard, candle, plant, rug, and curtain were found the most in the subjects. Natural light was found important to numerous occupants, whereas bedside lamp was the most common for artificial lighting. It was also perceived that hobby is one of the main factors that affect occupants' interest in interior design.
