Changes in Housing Function and Space Preference in the Post Covid Era : Plan Proposal for the Echo Boomer Generation

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to propose a floor plan by analyzing the changes in the housing function and preference of the living space in the post covid era for the echo-boomer generation. Through a survey of 300 echo-boomer generation, the changes in the frequency of daily living activities after Covid 19 were identified to understand the changes in housing function, and the preference of the living space and the floor plan were investigated to propose the floor plan. As a result of the study, ‘comfort’ increased the most in the housing function in the post covid era, and the ‘open-seeking type’ and ‘layered home preference type’ were the most frequent for the residential function preference. Accordingly, for the echo-boomer generation in the post covid era, floor plan elements such as a spacious veranda, division of space according to function, disinfection space at the entrance, and convenient movement lines for delivery were included. Including these floor plan elements, three floor plans were proposed for single-person households, couples without children, and couples with children among the echo-boomer generation.
