Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find a way to apply biophilic design to the educational space in consideration of the depression level of Korean adolescents. To this end, an image that applies biophilic design to the educational space was produced through prior research and literature review, and based on this, a survey was conducted on the level of depression and preference for design application of adolescents. As a result of the analysis, first, as a result of the survey analysis, all survey subjects showed a relatively high preference consciousness in ‘weather & view’ and ‘water’ among the biophilic experience attributes, so systematization of design techniques in middle and high school spaces is required considering this. Second, in the results of the preference analysis of biophilic design application characteristics, regardless of the level of depression, a high preference average was shown in the vertical elements of the material. In addition, although there was no significant difference in weather & view in the general group and the priority interest group, it is an attribute that should be considered first regardless of the application area. The results of this study are valuable in that it suggested planning factors that should be applied in consideration of the level of depression when applying biophilic design in the near future educational space.
