Abstract

The aim of this paper is to suggest a couple of strategies for affordable housing and to improve living conditions at the outskirts of Phnom Penh city bases on analysis and critical issue of the living condition of low and middle-income people with a visionary for enhancing livable, sustainable, affordable homes in the new way of living. This paper touches upon on strategy of affordable homes in the new way of design for people who are in low and middle-income by understanding the key elements of housing and land policy through comparing the method of living environment between Cambodia and South Korea. Especially, these suggested strategies are in the concept of how to design, build, live, and share our future affordable homes, neighborhoods, villages, and cities in the new way of modular home and living system. It designs for flat-packed, prefabricated homes with materials that we can find, create, easy transport, and assemble on-site everywhere by using a small working crew with equipment. And these design strategies may serve as a catalyst and the legitimation part to enhance the living conditions and the quality of life of the urban citizens of Cambodia.
