A Study of the Square Type Building Sites in the Silla Capital 신라왕경 정방형 건물지의 평면 및 기초형식

Abstract

In Gyeongju area, a number of square type building Sites with 450~700 cm in length are excavated. They have not found column ruins inside, and the details of the foundation are different. However, all the building sites were built on the basis of natural stone foundation, and roof tiles were excavated around the podium. Therefore, they are known as wooden structural buildings, and most of them were reported as building sites of the Unified Silla Period from the 8th to 9th centuries. It is noteworthy that different foundation type were used to construct buildings of similar size and plan in the same area at the same time. In addition, the square type building site excavated in the S1E1 district east of Hwangryongsaji was analyzed to be related to the Sil (室) of『Samguk Sagi (三國史記)』「Oksa (屋舍)」. Among the square type building sites that have been identified, the case where the age has been settled is known before the establishment of the 「Oksa (屋舍)」 (King Heungdeok9 (興德王, 834). Changes in the foundation and plan of the square type building site before and after the law will be meaningful data for the interpretation of the law.
