Supply and Operation of Small Libraries inside Apartment Complexes in Seoul 서울시 아파트 단지 내 작은도서관 공급과 운영 특성

Abstract

As of 2017, Small libraries in apartment complexes have expanded quantitatively without public support. And the overall quality of service come to be low due to the operational difficulties. The scope of the study is to examine the comprehensive aspects of the supply and operation of the library centered on the data of the Small Library Promotion Act, Article 12 Small Library Operations Survey. The source of the data was the small library data of Seoul in 2016, which is provided by the National Library Statistics System of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The subjects of this study were focused on 141 small libraries in 926 small libraries in Seoul. The method of this study was a statistical survey of the actual condition of small libraries. In addition, spatial location analysis was performed using GIS. The main results are as follows. On the supply side, it is necessary to supply base and cluster themes rather than supplying them individually in a single form when supplying large lots. In terms of operation, the library should have a flexible operation management system to ensure continuous operation considering the demand and usage pattern of each small library. Finally, institutional proposals need to be revised for small library supply laws.
