Abstract

This research found that land use regulations has not corresponded to the current of the times. It is necessary to revise the zoning regulations to keep the effectiveness of the zoning and its management. The purpose of this research is to present issues in the mixed use district in Daegu and management solutions to the issues and to suggest directions to the improvement of the land use regulations in the district through the primary and secondary research on the zoning and expert interviews for the research. The problem contained in the district in Daegu is that the uses of buildings are seriously mixed, that the criteria of the land use regulations are unclear, and that the standards of the management is uniform. Therefore, rather than managing the mixed use district with a uniform and similar planning technique like other large cities, it is necessary to regulate the use and bulk of buildings in that district differently in the context of the characteristics of communities. In order to revise ambiguous regulations that did not meet the purpose of the introduction of the mixed use zoning, this research suggests that the redefinition of the mixed use zoning district and that the five types of management strategies for the district.
